Lights shine on Turning Point

Eastern Health’s Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre will light up the night skies when it takes part in the 2011 Gertrude Street Projection Festival this month.

Artist Lindsay Cox, a freelance animator specialising in stop-motion animation techniques, has been appointed by the festival to create the projection art for Turning Point.

Lindsay has been involved in the festival for many years, and has strong links with the communities residing in Gertrude Street.

He is developing a three minute motion graphic animation that will include a rainbow of colours moving and changing in unexpected ways.

Turning Point director Prof Dan Lubman said the festival was an ideal opportunity for the health organisation to be involved in a community event.
“Bathing the façade in dynamic colours and objects will allow Turning Point to ‘reveal’ itself to the community as a vibrant organisation.

Lindsay said he was delighted to be part of the Festival, and in particular, work with Turning Point.

“The Festival will not only provide an opportunity for the community to get together for a great event, but allow organisations like Turning Point a chance to shine.”

The Festival begins on July 22, and runs until July 31.
