Turning Point is set to host its first Talking Point seminar for 2016, with The Joy of Data! set to be discussed.

This presentation will focus on how the advent of ‘big data’ and advanced software and analytic tools provides improved opportunities to better identify and understand what is happening in our communities in relation to alcohol and drug use.

From there we can help to improve system design, interventions and service delivery based on informed evidence.

This presentation will describe methodologies and case studies of how data can be used to inform policy planning and interventions with an aim to:

  • Decreasing rates of alcohol and other drug harm in Victoria and Australia
  • Reducing community harms from alcohol and other drug use
  • Increasing access to treatment for individuals with an alcohol or other drug problem
