After completing a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Wollongong in 2007, Qian started his research career in the Australian Centre for Addictive Research of NSW Department of Health. During that time, he provided management support to two ongoing, state-wide programs to reduce excessive drinking in the community via correspondence (mail) or web-assisted (
www.acar.net.au
).
In 2008, he moved to Melbourne to work as a data manager at the Cancer Epidemiology Centre of the Cancer Council Victoria. As part of his role, he has routinely coordinated linkage of Health2020 Program data with external databases such as Victorian Registry of birth, death, and marriage (BDM), National Death Index (NDI), and Australian Cancer Database (ACD).
Qian is currently working on processing VACIS electronic data for Ambo project. he is also working on data, and contributing to a range of projects, including the Drug Statistics Handbook.
