Reaching Out

Turning Point's Reaching Out project aims to build pathways to specialist alcohol and other drug treatment for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The community development activities include informal consultations and formal education sessions.

Turning Point’s CALD outreach service includes:

  • Initial assessment, information and advice on treatment options by telephone or face to face with a counsellor
  • Counselling and support to people whose AOD use is becoming problematic
  • Working with significant family and community members as appropriate
  • Provision of support to people affected by AOD use individually and in groups
  • The flexibility to conduct sessions at the persons health/community centre
  • Mentoring workers in agencies who provide services for people with problematic AOD use
  • Meeting with the key worker and client together to assess his/her situation and provide information
  • Hosting information sessions for CALD community groups
