Postgraduate Courses at Turning Point

 

Turning Point is accredited under the Tertiary Education Act (1993) to offer postgraduate courses. Courses currently offered are:

These courses are recognised by higher education institutions and completion will enable credit transfer into postgraduate courses at universities.

The Department of Human Services is offering twenty 80% scholarships in 2008 to AOD workers in Victoria to undertake Turning Point's Graduate Certificate in AOD Studies. Further information on the scholarship opportunities is available here.

Important dates

Credit Points
The postgraduate courses at Turning Point use a credit point system. For the Graduate Certificate, students need to accumulate 60 credit points, and 120 credit points for the Graduate Diploma. Full semester subjects have a credit point weighting of 15, half semester subjects have a credit point weighting of 7.5.

Workload Requirement
Postgraduate subjects are designed to require approximately 60 hours of study for each half-semester subject and 120 hours of study for each full semester subject. An outline of the general workload is described in the table below.

120 hours made up of:Contact Hours: 2.5 hours per week for 12 weeks = 30 hours

Private Study (library, searches, reading, self directed learning, exercises, assignment preparation):7.5 hours per week for 12 weeks = 90 hours

Mode of Delivery

On-campus
All subjects will be offered face to face at Turning Point's training rooms at 142 Gertrude Street Fitzroy.
