SUBJECT/UNIT SUMMARY:
Society's response to alcohol and drug problems must continually evolve. Healthy organisations, teams and individuals have a culture of ongoing learning. This unit offers concepts and processes for integrating experience with reflection and theory with practice. It will help equip you for lifelong development of your professional practice in alcohol and drug services.

Reflective practice assists practitioners to study their day to day experience, examine their beliefs and actions and continuously modify their practice and their plans.

Evaluation is another learning process that draws on the tradition of experiential learning. Organisations are increasingly building evaluation processes into their work, drawing on a wealth of tools and techniques. Basic evaluation literacy is a valuable resource for practitioners who want to provide effective, responsive services.

The subject is an opportunity to explore reflective practice and evaluation and consider how to weave these theories and skills into alcohol and drug service delivery and management.
