Professor David Morritz
de Kretser AC (Chief patron) is the Governor of Victoria
and a world renowned medical expert on reproduction. Currently
working as the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medicine,
Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University and Director
of Andrology Australia, Professor de Kretser’s role
in the scientific community is invaluable.
Dr Neal Blewett
AC was President of ADCA for 5 years and a
former federal Health Minister. Responsible for the introduction
of the Medicare system and for raising awareness of HIV/AIDS
in the mid '80s, Dr Blewett is still an active libertarian
who has made huge contributions to public health in Australia.
Professor Peter Doherty
AC is based in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology
at the University of Melbourne, won the Nobel Prize in Physiology
or Medicine in 1996 for his discovery on how the immune system
recognises virus-infected cells. Also awarded 'Australian
of the Year' in 1997, Professor Doherty donates a lot of his
time to promoting the cause of biomedical research and education.
Professor David Penington
AC was Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
at the University of Melbourne and has been a chair and member
of numerous boards and committees that have enhanced this
nation’s understanding and response to a range of health
and education issues.
Lady Primrose Potter AC
is a philanthropist and community worker whose enormous contribution
to the arts, sciences, education and social welfare have earned
her a Companion of the Order of Australia. Lady Potter is
Life Governor of the Ian Potter Foundation, one of the largest
private philanthropic organisations in Australia.
