Education and training
Turning Point is a leading provider of education and training services in alcohol and drug work in Australia, and is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Our focus on workforce development aims to build the capacity of health and welfare professionals to meet current and future demands in responding effectively to alcohol and drug issues. We do this through the provision of research, policy advice, education and training services.
Workforce development
Turning Point's comprehensive approach to workforce development reflects the growing understanding that effective workforce development programs comprise multiple strategies. This invovles targeting programs to individual workers, organisations and broader systems to drive changes in policy and practice that are relevant and applicable to the environment in which workers operate. Turning Point is playing a pivotal role working with governments to influence systemic changes in the alcohol and drug sector.
Research and policy advice
We conduct research in the areas of workforce development and training needs. At a policy level, this informs government and service providers in their decisions about workforce development policy and strategies. At a professional practice level, this enables Turning Point to design, deliver and evaluate education and training that incorporate the most up-to-date professional standards and practices.
Education and training
Our education and training programs include competency based training for health and welfare professionals, general practitioner training, alcohol and drug medical specialist training and tertiary education.
We also develop and deliver specialist resources and post-training support to alcohol and drug practitioners to promote the acceptance and use of new knowledge and skills in the workplace.
Turning Point offers subjects that are delivered online. These subjects are from the Graduate Certificate and the Graduate Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drug Studies and the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Work.
