Research and development
Turning
Point conducts practical, applied research leading to policy
and service development. Our focus is on improving and expanding
the range and quality of treatment and support services through
evidence-based research.
We aim to advance understanding of drug use and drug-related
harm by monitoring trends and patterns in drug use and related
harm, and conducting research and exploration in areas of
emerging need. Our research incorporates methods to ensure
that the needs of service users are better understood and
anticipated.
At a policy level, we provide government and service providers
with research on which to base decisions about service delivery
and development.
At a professional practice level, we publish and distribute
the results of our research for a wide range of purposes including
guidelines for professional practice, education and training,
and the development of client resources.
Areas of research undertaken at Turning Point include:
Clinical research
Clinical research aims to expand treatment options by developing
innovation in clinical practice, trialing new approaches,
