Turning Point Occupational Health and
Safety Policy
Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre is committed
to, and responsible for, providing and maintaining a high
level of health and safety for employees, students, contractors
and other persons within its premises or wherever employees
may be working.
Turning Point seeks to ensure that the health
and safety of the community is not adversely impacted by its
activities.
Health and safety is both a shared and individual
responsibility that relies on the commitment and cooperation
of managers and staff.
To ensure a workplace
that is safe and without risk to health:
Turning Point will:
- Administer a planned and systematic approach
to OHS management that is continuously improved.
- Comply with OHS related Acts and Regulations.
- Provide sufficient resources to effectively
manage OHS.
- Provide and maintain facilities for employee
welfare.
- Disseminate information, as well as instruction,
training and supervision to employees.
- Provide OHS training for OHS Representatives
and other staff in OHS related roles.
- Use consultative structures to facilitate
employee and management collaboration on OHS issues. At
a minimum, this includes an OHS Committee, elected OHS Representatives
and identification of an Employer Representative.
- Conduct regular planned workplace inspections.
- Operate an effective incident reporting
system.
- Resolve OHS issues in a timely manner, so
far as practicable.
Managers, Program Leaders and Supervisors
will:
- Be responsible for implementation
and adherence to OHS related policy and procedures within
their areas of responsibility.
- Ensure safe systems of work are in-place,
effective and adhered to.
- Support and encourage Occupational Health
and Safety Representatives and other staff in a joint commitment
to health and safety at Turning Point.
- Foster a culture that encourages staff to
participate in OHS matters and endeavours to continually
improve health and safety.
Staff and contractors will:
- Take reasonable care for their health and
safety.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety
of others.
- Observe safe systems of work.
- Follow OHS policies and procedures.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents
in accordance with the agreed incident reporting system.
- Contribute to a positive culture in relation
to OHS and participate in consultative structures.
Students and visitors will:
- Cooperate with Turning Point OHS processes
and take care of their own health and safety and that of
others.
