Research Fellow in Addiction Studies at the Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University, and at Turning Point.

Michael’s research focuses on the social and cultural contexts of alcohol and other drug use, addiction concepts, treatment and experiences of intervention implementation and care across a number of mediums. His research is multi-disciplinary in orientation, policy and practice relevant, and often draws on critical approaches and qualitative methods. Michael’s recent work explores the role of online interventions in shaping how alcohol and other drug ‘problems’ are framed and understood. He coordinates units in the Monash University Masters of Addictive Behaviours, and is a co-convener of the Victorian Substance Use Research Forum, and a member of the International Editorial Board for Drugs, Education, Prevention and Policy.
