Overview

This one-day workshop is for alcohol and other drug (AOD) workers who are new to the sector, or those looking to update their knowledge in an ever-changing AOD work environment. It aims to cover current Victorian issues and trends in the AOD sector.

It will provide an overview of:

  • New and emerging patterns of drug use - novel psychoactive substances and pharmaceutical medications
  • Clinical and policy responses to old and new drugs of concern
  • What's new in Victoria? - clinical research and practice guidelines

Full day workshop: 9.15 am – 4.00 pm
Morning Tea & light lunch including a vegetarian selection will be provided each day.

Presenters

Workshop Presenters are Education Officers from Turning Point.

Phoebe Spry-Bailey has extensive clinical and training experience in the AOD sector and is passionate above providing relevant and practical evidence based information to her audiences.

Rita Brien has a decade of research experience, including the AOD and public health sectors and is currently working on an AOD research stream in the Masters of Addictive Behaviours at Monash University.

Together they are a dynamic team who will provide up to date information in an interactive workshop.

Who should attend? Victorian Department Health and Human Service funded AOD workers new to their role and/or those looking to refresh and update existing knowledge.

Places are limited in these free workshops, so all participants are requested to provide their Manager’s contact details during registration. Managers will be contacted if participants fail to attend training without providing notice.

Morning Tea and Lunch: Morning tea and a light lunch including a vegetarian selection will be provided on each day.

Getting to Turning Point: Trams on Church Street, Bridge Road and Victoria Street; nearest train stations are West and North Richmond; limited all day parking available in the area.
