Education and Training Officer, Turning Point

Overview

Anna’s role as an education officer involves working in a number of programs including educational internships, professional development and VET courses, Connect and Learn webinars, BreakThrough: Families Understanding Addiction and SMART Recovery. As the educational internship coordinator, Anna supports students to complete an educational/observational internship at Turning Point and pursue a career in the AOD sector. Anna is also a trained SMART Recovery facilitator and runs a group for people interested in making changes to their AOD use

Background

Anna began her career in the AOD sector in 2000 when she was recruited as one of the first volunteers for the newly established Family Drug Helpline, supporting families impacted by alcohol and drugs.

Anna joined Turning Point in 2004 and has worked across a range of disciplines including research, communications, clinical services and education. She holds a BA, Monash University; Grad Dip Prof Writing and Editing, Deakin University; a Grad Dip AOD, Turning Point, and a Cert IV TAE, Plenty Training.

Research interests

Anna has been providing peer support and facilitating group programs since 2000 and is inspired every day by people's stories of strength and hope.
