Emma is a researcher and educator for the Beyond the Emergency project, which is a national project funded by beyondblue and the Movember Foundation. In collaboration with ambulance services across Australia the project aims to improve the mental health of Australian men and boys by enhancing paramedic’s capacity to respond and encouraging ongoing support.
Previously, Emma has undertaken research activity across a number of projects including:
- a randomised control trial encouraging young people to seek help for mental health and alcohol and other drug issues,
- an evaluation of a Vic Health drinking cultures project with young people,
- and a mixed methods study seeking to understand the factors affecting the wellbeing, social groups and identity of personnel transitioning from the Australian Defence Force.
Educational activities involve the development and delivery of a youth help-seeking program and an online mental health communication package for front-line health workers. Emma completed her undergraduate studies in Health Science at Deakin University in 2012.
