Data Scientist, National Addiction and Mental Health Surveillance Unit, Turning Point and Monash University
Nik has worked at Turning Point as a Data Scientist since early 2021, where he leverages a blend of statistical knowledge and programming skills to support Turning Point's AI initiatives. Nik is focused on bringing refined Big Data methodology into projects. This currently entails state-of-the-art solutions such as deep learning and advising subject matter experts on incorporating industry-standard AI methodology into academic practice.
Prior to commencing with Turning Point, Nik worked in the startup sphere in Southeast Asia in client acquisition, risk mitigation, and operations. At RMIT's Strategy and Services Data Science team, Nik guided the organisation in modernising their technology stack by proposing and implementing Airflow on the cloud -- a gold-standard scheduling system developed by Airbnb -- to replace RMIT's legacy systems.
In his free time, Nik enjoys reading, bouldering, and donating his time as an inclusive computer science educator.
