Modif-i Tobacco

Overview

Eastern Health, in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria and researchers from Monash, Deakin, and Flinders Universities, are conducting a pilot clinical trial of a new “brain-training” smartphone app to see if it helps people quit tobacco smoking.

The app aims to reduce people’s automatic impulses to respond to tobacco-related images. We are comparing different versions of the app to test whether using the brain-training task while attempting to quit smoking improves people’s chances of succeeding at quitting, and reduces their cravings.
