Intake Assessment and Support

The Turning Point Intake Assessment and Support team facilitate client entry into public alcohol and other drug (AOD) services by providing support and triaging and referring clients to appropriate treatment providers.

Services we can assist with referral to include detox units, rehabilitation programs, AOD counselling services and other group programs such as mutual aid support (e.g. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, SMART Recovery).

Our intake clinicians will complete an intake assessment with each client, to ascertain a suitable recovery plan and appropriate treatment pathway. Recovery plans are tailored to meet clients’ needs and stage of substance use, which may range from reduction of harmful drug use through to abstinence from all drugs. Brief intervention and bridging support are also able to be provided.

Intake assessments can be conducted face-to-face at the walk-in clinic at Turning Point Eastern Treatment Services (TPETS) – Box Hill, or via telephone.

Suitable for

People aged 18 and over who are seeking support for AOD related issues from public AOD services. People under the age of 18 may be referred to a youth AOD service.

Our intake and support team are able to respond to people from across Victoria, however we may re-direct individuals to an intake service with closer geographical proximity if this is considered helpful.
