Experiences of drug driving: a qualitative study

Overview

Drug driving continues to be a major public health and safety concern. However, there is limited research on peoples’ experiences of drug driving to inform and enhance responses to drug driving. Addressing this gap, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) commissioned Monash University, Turning Point to conduct a qualitative study of Victorian adults’ (aged 18 years or older) experiences and perceptions of drug driving. This involved interviewing 100 adults who had engaged in drug driving in the past 12 months and observing two drug driver Behaviour Change Programs, to gain further understanding of Victoria’s current drug driving countermeasures. The summary report provides an overview of key findings and recommendations for improved responses and supports for people who drug drive.
