Karyn Cook

Associate Program Director, Turning Point Treatment Services and Director of Nursing Statewide Services

Karyn is a senior mental health nurse with over 25 years’ experience in senior management and leadership positions in both government and non-government positions across the mental health, alcohol and other drugs, justice, community services, injury management, and occupational health and safety sectors. Karyn has worked in the Northern Territory in various roles, leading Northern Territory wide initiatives specifically targeted at reducing harm relating to alcohol and other drug misuse, and diverting people away from custody. Karyn previously held several leadership roles at Eastern Health Alcohol and Other Drug services, and Turning Point where she was responsible for the clinical services at the Fitzroy clinic and Telephone and Online Services. Karyn has been the executive director of mental health services in the South West of Victoria and most recently has held the position of CEO at Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation.

Background

Karyn’s qualifications include a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Mental Health) and Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the University of Adelaide Executive Professional Management Program (PMP). She is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Interests

Karyn has a passion for working in mental health and addiction services and values her recent experience of leading an Aboriginal Corporation in Victoria in the provision of AOD rehabilitation and a wide range of community services. She is extremely excited to be returning to Statewide Services as Director of Nursing and to lead operations for Turning Point treatment services.
