Professor Dan Lubman AM elected

Congratulations to our Executive Clinical Director, Professor Dan Lubman AM FAHMS, who has been elected as one of three researchers from Monash University as a new Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS), the nation’s learned academy for the most influential experts in health and medicine.

As Director of Turning Point and the Monash Addiction Research Centre, Professor Lubman has led pioneering studies on the impact of alcohol, drugs, and gambling on brain function and mental health, developed and trialled innovative clinical and early intervention responses, and established a world-first national health surveillance system.

Alongside all of our staff, Professor Lubman works tirelessly every day, bringing drive, expertise and leadership. His work directly informs public health policy, clinical innovation and health system reform and supports national advocacy campaigns to address stigma and the adoption of evidence-based policies and practice.

“Congratulations to Professor Guo, Professor Lubman and Professor Polo on their election as new Fellows of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences,” said Executive Dean of Monash Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Professor Christina Mitchell AO. “Their contributions to environmental health, addiction, stem cell and epigenetics research have been profound and influential, here and overseas, and their recognition by the Academy is richly deserved.”

On behalf of Turning Point staff and colleagues, we congratulate Professor Lubman for this well-deserved recognition of his ongoing contributions to the health and medical sectors in this country.
